Anyway, this is something that's been on my mind and I believe on hers as well; we discussed the possibility a bit.
We as mods... well, we can't really force anybody to play with anybody else. If people are going to shun her, that's something we don't have control over. I'd like to think that the majority of the people currently in the DR will not consider the fact that she came to the mods for help a reason to discontinue playing with her, though, and that if this does happen those of us who aren't a part of that group will rally and play with her instead.
However, I do want to say that if something like this does occur, depending on the nature of the shunning and who is responsible, I may discuss options with Stel. If people in the DR are actively attempting to make new players feel uncomfortable and unwelcome that is not cool and that is not something I or Stel want happening in the DR.

I realise that the DR doesn't really have many players, and that makes it easy to pick out who and what happened, but the question is - what should have been done instead? The situation as it stood simply was one that neither the player or either of the mods felt was fair, and that something had to be said. It's much better for one player to raise it with our backing now than to risk having it happen to someone else down the line - especially when other people might just stop playing rather than bring it to our attention.
And frankly, if the player does get backlash and group shunning for simply bringing something to our attention? That is probably a great sign that it's not worth playing with that group in the first place, and it's definitely a sign that I personally wouldn't want those people anywhere near my game. I'm basically fed up that these viewpoints have continued to boil around in the background despite one person doing all they can to make up for it, and significantly angry that it's spilt over and impacted a new player who had nothing whatsoever to do with it in the first place. I would sincerely hope we have the caliber of player who wouldn't even think of doing anything retaliatory.
